CRI Combined Catalytic SCR & Dioxin Destruction System Successfully Operating at the Lowest Temperature Ever Demonstrated on a Waste Incineration Facility

CRI Catalyst Company was awarded the order for the supply of a combined SCR and Catalytic Dioxin Destruction System for application at the newly constructed municipal solid waste incineration plant at Bergamo Ambiente e Servizi S.p.A. in Bergamo, Italy. The MWI plant processes about 90,000 ton of waste per year. The CRI system was successfully commissioned in June 2003 for the removal of NOx from the flue gas stream down to below 70 mg/Nm3 and dioxins/furans to below 0.1 ng/Nm3 TEQ.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the CRI system is its operation at a flue gas temperature as low as 165 degrees Celsius (330F), being the worlds lowest operating temperature for the clean-up of NOx and dioxins from flue gas in a waste incineration facility. This particular aspect was of great importance for the selection of the CRI technology over other technologies in view of the energy savings and low operating costs.
