History
In 1988, three major international catalyst businesses, Shell Oil Company,
Shell International Chemical Company and American Cyanamid Company, merged
and created Criterion Catalyst Co LP, which became a leading supplier of
refining and petrochemical catalysts.
In 1999, after CRI International (Shell Group
of Companies) acquired the outstanding Cytec Industries shares
in Criterion Catalyst Company L.P., CRI established two operating
business units:
- One focused on serving the chemical industry:

CRI Catalyst Co. with Styrene
now forming part of this business unit.
- One focused on the refining industry:

Criterion Catalysts & Technologies.
